അങ്ങിനെ G E C യിലെ ജീവിതത്തിനു തിരശീല വീഴാന് പോകുന്നു.. നാല് വര്ഷമായി ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന G E C. അല്ല ജീവിതം തന്നേയായിരുന്ന G E C. ഇനിയും ഈ വഴി വരേണ്ടി വന്നേക്കാം. പക്ഷെ അന്നൊക്കെ കഴിഞ്ഞ കാലങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഓര്മകളുടെ ഭാണ്ടവും പേറി മാത്രം.
അപ്പച്ചന്റെ കടയും സുന്ദരേട്ടന്റെ ചായയും ഇനി സുഖമുല് ഓര്മ്മകള്. ഗ്യാലറിയിലെ സായാഹ്നനങ്ങളും എം എച് ലെ രാത്രികളും ഇനി ഓര്മകളില് മാത്രം. വര്ഗീസേട്ടന്റെ പട്ടിയിറച്ചി പേടിപെടുത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഓര്മയായും പരീക്ഷാ തലേന്നത്തെ നൈറ്റ് ഔട്ടുകള് ഇനി മക്കള്ക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുക്കാനുള്ള കഥകള് മാത്രമായും ചുരുങ്ങം.
ഈ ബ്ലോഗിന് പുതിയ പോസ്റ്റുകള് ഏതാനം മാസങ്ങള്ക്കകം അന്യമാകും. പക്ഷെ ഈ ഓര്മ്മകള് എന്നെന്നും നിലനില്ക്കും. ഈ കലാലയത്തെ പോലെ..

ഒരു മരണപ്പാച്ചില്
സ്പീഡോമീട്ടരിന്റെ സൂചി ഇല് നില്ക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടപ്പോളാണ് സ്പീഡ് ഓവറാണോ എന്നൊരു സംശയം തോന്നിയത്.. മരങ്ങളൊക്കെ എന്നെ കടന്നു പോകാന് മത്സരിക്കുന്നത് പോലെ.. മനസിനെ കെട്ടഴിച്ചുവിട്ട് യാതൊന്നിനെയും പറ്റി ചിന്തിക്കാതെ ചാറ്റല് മഴയില് നിലം തൊടാതെ പറക്കാന് ഇന്നും നല്ല രസം. അരയില് അവളുടെ കൈകള് പിടുത്തം മുറുക്കിയപ്പോള് ഒരു നിമിഷം ഒന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി. പാണ്ടി ലോറിയുടെ അലറുന്ന ഹോണ് കേട്ടപ്പോള് വെട്ടിതിരിഞ്ഞ ഞാന് കണ്ടത് ചില്ല് പൊട്ടിയ ഒരു ഹെഡ് ലൈറ്റ് മാത്രമാണ്..
"അയ്യോ.." ചാടി എണീറ്റപ്പോള് തല കട്ടിലില് ഇടിച്ചു.
8 മണിക്ക് വച്ച അലാറം 9 മണിയായിട്ടും അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു..
പല്ലു തേക്കണമല്ലോ എന്നാലോചിച്ചപ്പോളാണ് ഫസ്റ്റ് അവര് ആണല്ലോ എന്ന് ഓര്ത്തത്..
"പഹയന്... താമസിച്ചാല് ഇന്നും ഗെറ്റ് ഔട്ട് തന്നെ.. "
ലോറി കയറിയ പേസ്റിനെ ഞെക്കുമ്പോള് രണ്ട് ദിവസം കൂടി നില്ക്കും എന്ന് ഇന്നലെ പറഞ്ഞതു തെറ്റാത്താതിനു ദൈവത്തിനു നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടാണ് ബീഡിക്ക് വേണ്ടി ബോക്സില് കൈ ഇട്ടത്..
" പള്ളീ .. ചതിച്ചു.. "
ആ മയിരന് രാവിലെ എന്റെ ബീഡികൊണ്ടു കാര്യം സാധിച്ചു..
ബീഡി ഇല്ലാ.. അപ്പൊ പിന്നെ മറ്റവനും തത്കാലം സ്റ്റേ..
പല്ലു തേക്കലും തുണി മാറലും എല്ലാം ഒരുമിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു .. ബക്കറ്റില് വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് ഭാഗ്യം.. ഇല്ലെങ്കില് പേസ്റ്റ് തിന്നേണ്ടി വന്നേനെ..
"മെസ്സില് ഇന്നെന്താണാവോ ?"
രാവിലെ ആ വര്ഗീസിന്റെ മോന്ത കൂടി കണ്ടാല് ഇന്നത്തേക്ക് ഉള്ളതായി..
മെസ്സിലേക്ക് ഓടുന്നതിനിടയില് പെട്ടന്നാണ് ഓര്ത്തത്..
" ഈ ഷര്ട്ട് മിനിയാന്ന് കളി കഴിഞ്ഞു അളക്കാന് മാറ്റി വച്ചതാണല്ലോ.. മയിര്.. സ്പ്രേയും തീര്ന്നു.."
സാരമില്ല.. പോട്ടെ..
മെസ്സില് എത്തുന്നതിനു മുമ്പെ തന്നെ ആ വൃത്തികെട്ട മണം മൂക്കില് അടിച്ച് കയറി.. ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടത് തെന്നെ സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു..
" ദൈവമേ.. ഇന്നും ഉപ്പുമാവ്.."
"അല്ലെങ്കിലും ഇതൊക്കെ ഇങ്ങിനയെ വരൂ.. കലികാലമല്ലേ കലികാലം.. "
തിന്നാല് ബീഡി പോലും വേണ്ടി വരില്ല.. സ്റ്റേ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെ പെട്ടന്ന് പോയികിട്ടും..
കയ്യില് കിട്ടിയ പഴവും പറിച്ചു ടാപ്പില് നിന്ന് തലമുടിയും നനച്ച് ഓടി ഗ്രൗണ്ടില് കയറിയപ്പോലാണ് ഓര്ത്തത്..
" പേന എടുത്തില്ല.. "
"ആ.. ആരെയെങ്കിലും വെല്ഡ് ചെയ്യാം.."
ഈ ഇലക്ട്രിക്കലിലെ പെമ്പിള്ളെര്ക്കെന്താ ക്ലാസ്സില്ലേ..??
"സോറി.. സമയമില്ല.. "
അല്ലെങ്കിലും ആവശ്യമുള്ളപ്പോള് ഈ മക്കളെ ഒന്നും ഇവിടെ കാണില്ല..
സമയം ഒന്പതേ കാല്..
"ഈ മൂന്നാം നിലയൊക്കെ ഇവന്മാര്ക്ക് താഴെ പണിതു കൂടെ..?"
മുകളിലെത്തി ശ്വാസം പിടിക്കുമ്പോള് മുമ്പില് റൂം മേറ്റ്..
" ഡാ.. സാറ് വന്നില്ല.. ഇനി ൨ മണിക്കേ ക്ലാസ്സ് ഉള്ളു.. "
" മ മ മ .. അല്ലെങ്കില് വേണ്ട.. മയിര്.. "
"വയറ്റില് ഒരു ഇളക്കം പോലെ... !! "

Bloggers- A Call..!!!
My dear bloggers of GEC T, a warm wish of the day to you all.
Indeed the sun is hot, and rain is scarce. But i come not to condemn nature, for it is the mother of all. And mothers are full of love and care. But love is not always good. But the price of goods are increasing day by day. Doesn't thet bring us to the question of why it is hot everyday?
Ok, please do read on. I stopped writing crap(just for now).
It had been a hectic( i misspelled it this time too, sorry devi) time for all of us. In the midst of internals and universities, we had to undertake projects and endure the previous semester result, which, all are now aware, is as welcome as the devil himself. But with the elections paving the way for an advanced vacation (which is now ruined by the above mentioned result), we were all set to have a blast this summer.
Some took off to moonnar, some to the countryside, someone heeard coorg beckoning them and for some others it was 'trip: leave home'. But everyone had one thing in common. NO BLOGGING..!! (y?)
Has the charm of the blog word left? Does nothing happen in and around us that inspire us to write? Or have we become so busy, to not write anything for the past months?
When i say this, do not think that i do not get any sleep wanting to read all your blogs. Just that it was fun reading around. (now, ain't that it?? )
Anybody got anything to say?
And a final request to all GEC Thrissur bloggers. Just to know how many bloggers we do have around. Please mark your presence. Leave a link of your blog. Just a request. Spread the word around.

അരാഷ്ട്രീയ വാദികള്ക്കും വര്ഗീയ ശക്തികള്ക്കും ശക്തമായ ഭാഷയില് മറുപടി കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് തുടര്ച്ചയായ ഏഴാം വര്ഷവും ഏകപക്ഷീയമായി കോളേജ് യൂണിയന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് പാനല് വിജയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
S F I സംസ്ഥാന കമ്മറ്റി അംഗവും മുന് ജി ഇ സി യൂണിറ്റ് സെക്രട്ടറിയും ആയ സഖാവ് രതീഷ് കുമാര് കെ മാണിക്യമംഗലം പാനലിനെ വിദ്യാര്ത്ധികള്ക്ക് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി. തുടര്ച്ചയായ 30 കൊല്ലം ഒരു വിദ്യാത്ധി പ്രസ്ഥാനം ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷനല് ക്യാമ്പസില് ഇത്ര ശക്തമായ നിലയില് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുക എന്നത് ഏതൊരു സഖാവിനും അഭിമാനിക്കാനുള്ള കാര്യമാണെന്ന് സഖാവ് ഓര്മിപ്പിച്ചു.

മെക്കിന്റെ സെക്രട്ടറി ആയി എന്റെ സഹപാഠിയും ഉറ്റ ചങ്ങാതിയുമായ നന്ദു സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു. മുകളില് പറഞ്ഞ ഒന്പതു ജനറല് സീറ്റില് അഞ്ചു പേരും മെക്കാനിക്കല് ആണ്. അതില് നാല് പേര് എന്റെ സഹപാഠികളും ആണ്. ഞങ്ങള് വലിയ പുള്ളികളല്ലേ.?

Confluence 09 inagurated
Intracollege arts festival CONFLUENCE 09 was inagurated at the college auditorium by renowed sopana sangeetham artist Njeralath Harigovindan, son of late Njeralath Rama Pothuval, the mastro of the art.
At the occasion, he also performed for the gathered students. The video is given below. Forgive the poor quality. It was from a distance no less than 50 feet.
This song by music director M G Radhakrishnan for the film Devasuram (1993) was noted for the awesome use of edakka in the ashtapadi format. Hearing it again live was a rare experience.
Befitting start to the 3 day on stage competitions.

An ode to a great exam
എനിക്ക് ഭ്രാന്തുപിടിച്ച്ചതൊന്നുമല്ല. പരീക്ഷക്ക് എഴുതാന് ഒന്നുമില്ലാതിരുന്ന അവസരത്തില് എന്നിലെ കലാ(കൊലാ)കാരന് ഉണര്ന്നതാണ്. പരീക്ഷകള് മനുഷ്യന്റെ കലാവാസനയെ ഉണര്ത്തും. എത്ര സത്യം. തുടര്ന്ന് വായിക്കുക ...
ഈ കരയില് നില്ക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു. ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ തിരക്കില് നിന്ന് ഒരു ആശ്വാസത്തിന് വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഞാന് ഇവിടെ വരാറ്. നിത്യവും തുടര്ന്ന് പോകുന്ന തിരക്കിന്റെ ചര്യയില് നിന്ന് ഒരു മോചനം. നാളയെക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തയില്ലാതെ ഏതാനം സമയം. മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് പങ്കുവയ്ക്കാതെ എന്റെ മാത്രം സ്വകാര്യതയിലേക്ക് ചേര്ത്ത് വയ്ക്കാന്. മനംമടുപ്പികുന്ന ജീവിത യാഥാര്ത്യങ്ങളില് നിന്ന് നിര്വികാരതയുടെ അകലങ്ങളിലേക്ക്. മറ്റൊന്നിനേ പറ്റിയും ചിന്തിക്കാതെ, തടസങ്ങളെ അതിജീവിചൊഴുകുന്ന ഈ പുഴക്കരയില്.
ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഒറ്റപെടലിന്റെ ഏകാന്തതയില് നിഇന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞ കാലത്തിന്റെ ഏടുകള് മറിക്കുമ്പോള്. നഷ്ടപെട്ടതിനെപറ്റി എനിക്ക് വിഷമം തോന്നുന്നില്ല. വീണ്ടും നഷ്ടപെടുമോ എന്ന ഭയം. ഒന്നും നേടാതെ ആര്ക്കുമൊന്നും നഷ്ടപെടുന്നില്ല.
നേടണം എന്ന വാശിയെ നഷ്ടപെടുമോ എന്ന ഭയം കൊണ്ട് കുഴിച്ചുമൂടി ഞാന് തിരിച്ചുപോന്നു.
കാലി പേപ്പര് സാറിന് കൊടുത്തു ഞാനും ഇറങ്ങിപോന്നു.

Thrissur Motor Show 2008
First time we made history. Then we edited it five times. We'll do it the sixth time this year. The latest edition of Thrissur Motor Show or TMS, as those people who really took it to heart call it, is just around the corner.

This time, it is the hottest brands on the market that will hit the spot with the crowd. An assortment of buffed and polished vintage cars will add a royal touch. unquote

chithram '08, campus film festival starts tomorrow October 20th. The 3 day fest at Government Engineering College,Thrissur this year showcases 9 world class films ranging across the panorama of life.
From charles chaplins 'modern times' to Avira Rebecca's 'thakarachenda' the festival, on the notes of the convenor, is sure to engage, enthertain and educate you.
and, by the way, this's the first major programme in the 3rd year, and i got the honours designing the brochure, tariff, and volunteer card.

GEC.. again..!!
The GEC-ien saga continues. The 7th ISTE Students' Annual State Convention saw the emergence of GECT as the undisputed champions. The runners up at the sixth convention, the GEC team had an unchallenged run at the SJCET, bagging 7 first prizes and 6 second prizes of 13 events.

Among the prizes were the first and second in technical quiz, technical debate, mechanical paper presentation and electronics and communication paper presentation. Sweet revenge for losing the champions trophey last year for just two points. Winning 53 of the total 104 points again proved our metal. Hats off people.

Onam is a festival of colours. It is a time of the year which other than the summer holidays many students look up to (for reasons that are obvious).

That's it. We're done. S5 royal MEx, Reining champions, (Pookalam)With the pookalam finished, the entire Royal MEx embarked on a procession befitting Royal MEx. Accompanied by Chendamelam and ilathalam and occasional bursts of good quality crackers, we rocked the college.

The entrance of the college was decorated by a magnificent floral by College Union, one for 'Mathrukam' and one depicting 'Che'.

The results of the pookalam competition came at 3. And sadly, we got only 3rd. But seeing the pookalam which got the second, we're really disheartened. We really deserved second. But, first was unanimous. Akhilesh and the chemicals really deserved it.

Of the 8 teams, 3 were mechanical teams viz, mechanical A, mechanical B, and 'veruthe oru team', which in fact was a team comprising of myself(please don't laugh), payis, niranjan, raju etc with naomboori and ms being the only able bodied ones. But we won the first match. I don't really remember against whom, but it was chaos after we won. nobody expected us to win. Not even ourselves. We were pitted with mechanical B team, which of course we lost.
Vadamvali for girls were also fought with the same vigour, which the LH team won in a closely fought row with the divyans.
The men's finals came down to mechanical A team Vs Mechanical team. Who won among them is not important, but the fact that our spirit won. Before the finals, i could see the A team captain Freddie, coaching the B team on having the perfect hand grip and the leg lock, a really curious sight.
The day came to an end by 8, filling all hearts with hopes for the next Onam. More sarees, more prizes and more fun.

CAD Cup '08
CAD Cup, college cricket tournament, was a cricketing bonanza this year with 32 teams competing for the coveted trophy.
S5 combined team won the CAD Cup '08, beating hot favorites S7 combined team. Playing with big shots like ciril, nafshad, prasanth and the lot who're prominent members of the college cricket team, this team had played in the CAD Cup finals from their first year, but each time lost out in the finals.
That's 3 runners-up in a row. S7 captain sreejithettan with his third runners-up trophy.

After the last ball. A comprehensive victory of 30 runs.
Niaz took 5 wickets wrecking the top and lower of the S7 team, and Akhil single handedly managed our batting in the final.

Niaz was adjudged MOM in the finals and Akhil was the Player of the Series. Our captain, Ihsan won the Best Batsman trophey.

Into a new world
Change is inevitable. Change is the law of nature. Last few months saw a lot of change. For starters, the rule of king in Nepal gave way to democracy and first time in the history of Nepal, a maoist president claimed office. The left wing broke out of UPA in India and the CPI[M] expelled one of it's high ranking member, Somnath Chatterjee.
Aside from political changes, the technology saw an uprising over the Apple i-phone 3-G which started the paradigm shift from operators controlling handsets to vice versa. everything is changing. Isn't it?
I decided to change myself. Transform my life. Transform it once and for all. I decided finally to switch to linux.As with any average pc user, i lived on MS windows. I've had used linux before, but never really felt i'd want to use it on my personal pc. But things do cahnge, don't they?
After coming to GECT, which has a computer science department which is an active supporter of free software and the linux community, i was greatly drawn to linux. But that was only because of the curiosity to find what is so hyping about linux.
In the mean time i had installed ubuntu(which was the only one i had) just for horror(courtesy: njekku) a couple of times and uninstalled later, because it couldnt support most of my hardware(though i din't really know untill recently, i was using ubuntu 5. something version).
Things really got moving after RMS came to UC college, aluva. A friend of mine wrote a post about their meeting rms and on the ideals of free software, and we had a heated debate over some ideals which prompted guidance from many experienced free software activists including pramod sir and vivekettan.
After much thought i decided to give linux a real chance and asked my ex-roommate bristow for a dvd. As u can guess, he couldn't give me one. Time passed. Seasons changed. May be by the stroke of fate, i stumbled across ubuntu's free shipping programme.
The rest, you can imagine. I logged in, I registered, and I received. A cd containing the lastest UBUNTU 8.04.1 LTS Desktop Edition. along with four stickers proclaiming "ubuntu, linux for human beings".
I was really happy to see the disk packed in kinda good package from Netherlands. And thanks to bristow and dasappan who inspired me to take this drastic step (he he). And last but not the least, to all of ma cs friends, leading by example, refusing to even install windows as a secondary boot in their systems(i lie pretty.. don't i?).
Will share my experiences with linux later. Any ways, linux, here i caom...(rollz..:D)
